    Hey guys,

I have a Windows 10 machine that seems to take forever to boot. I'm fairly certain there's just too much stuff trying to run at startup, but I'm not sure what the best way to handle this is.

    I5 processor running at 2.67ghz
    16 gig RAM
    Part Number: 141-LF-E658-KR
Part Desc: EVGA P55 FTW 200 motherboard
    Part Number: 02G-P4-2662-KR
Part Desc: EVGA GeForce GTX 660 Superclocked video card

I had it overclocked at one point. After a Bios upgrade the settings I have no longer worked out. I don't game. I do a lot of digital photography.

You have a lot of startup items. I have just 5. Apart from Avast, I don't have any of those you have.
But, only you can decide what you need to start with Windows. Carefully look at them.
Open Services and change those startup types to Manual - then those programs/services will start when needed.

Wow! I started down that list and some of it I'm not sure what needs to be running normally for windows and what doesn't. Some of it is pretty easy to pick out, some I don't know how changing it will affect the OS

Every startup item gets loaded, uses ram memory, and gets its portion of windows while the O/S asks it if it needs anything. Think of them, too, like gears in a gear train. Each one adds its own, slowing down the PC, and ironically, doubling the chances of problems or errors. I can often disable 45+% of the startup items with no effect on usability and a major change in speed.

I like to use WinPatrol (free) because you can right-click and disable the startup items with an easy option to re-enable it if you make a mistake. Further, if you google the "command" (second column), you can learn in a heartbeat whether you need it or not: http://www.winpatrol.com/download.html

    Hi

You need none of them apart from

    AvastUI.exe = AVAST your Antivirus
OneDrive - this is needed if you use it and wish to keep a sync going in the background.
iCloudDrive = Apple iCloud storage only keep if you actually us this.

The rest are not really needed and can be run and updated once you start the specific app, do note that once you update apps that they "may" stick the startup back so periodically review startups.

Also use the likes of CCleaner to clean your PC from old temp junk files and then defrag as that will help too.

I suggest you use WinPatrol as used by davismccarn.
Then you can exclude Windows services, and concentrate on the others.

Thanks for the help guys. I haven't been on this machine for a few days, I use it primarily for photography. I'm downloading WinPatrol and I'll take a look.

Disable or change to manual the startup type of 2-3 programs at a time. The next time you use the PC, do another 2-3.

Thanks for all your input guys. I'll start making a list of what I'm disabling and what I'm changing to delayed start. Any idea how long delayed start puts things off for?

That's anyone's guess. And Microsoft isn't telling...
