alright, i posted in the ubuntu forums and no one was any help. a first for me there. i have a dell inspiron m5010 (64bit sys)
    amd phenom(tm)IIn850 tripple-core 2.20ghz
    ati mobility radeon hd 4250

i got ubuntu studio to install but when i reboot to finish, the speed resembled a win94 pos lol
any thoughts on this? can i get this running at the speed it should be running at?

(im able to update but like i said, ssuuppeerr slow, loads of lag)

Are you using a stable build, or a beta? I personally prefer fedora or debian. But, at work, we have 3 redhat boxes, and one debian (running webhelpdesk). One redhat and the debian are running via vmware ESXi.

ubuntu studio is a stable program, its based off debian im pretty sure. its the 11.04 version, but they told me to try the 10.10, i even went and tried the 10.04. ubuntu i guess doesn't want to run right lol. perhaps a different distro, you said fedora, how dose that differ from deb. lol i messed up my dual boot so im in the process of reinstating the mbr, ill post back when finished.

Did you install the ati graphics driver? Cause if not it will probably run slow and be all sucky, might be helpful to post a link to your other thread so we can review that and not repeat anything.

i have tryed 32-and 64 bit ubuntu. there was no change. i use this laptop for school(win7), and for play, i record music(guitar drums keyboard) and the ubuntu studio just caught my eye. i wanted to do a dualboot. 64bit Fedora 15 Desktop Edition The GNOME-based default Fedora Desktop hung. i red that ubuntu thread already, lol i have been all over google trying to figure this out. after i did pci=noacpi (it did nothing) i waited for other instruction on the ubuntu forums and noone got back to me. i can install and boot ubuntu 11.04, it just runs super slow. slow enough that i cant really do anything with it but look at it lol
