slow installation

I have a problem and it has gotten me really steemed up. I have a p4 2.3 celeron processor, 768Mb ram, a 256 pci ati video card, and am running windows xp. I have a dual 800Mhz server, 512 ram running windows 200o advanced server. I decided to join my xp machine to my server and everything went well (for the most part. Lost a few programs, and such, but no biggie) and now I am tring to install my palm software so I can sync my palm to my xp machine. The problem is that right after I joined my domain, I am having installation issues. It has taken my XP machine 30 minutes just to install the first half of my palm software. It hangs when ever I try to install any software. I tried to reinstall MS Office, and again 30 minutes before the installer started to install the software. What is going on. I am beyond frustrated

I have already checked for viruses and malware, and the system is clean so I don't think that is the problem

 

I'd undo the last thing that you did before the problem started: Remove the PC from the domain and reboot - does the problem go away?

I removed the PC from the domain, but that didn't help the problem. The machine is still slowing down when ever I do anything.
