Slow Internet Connect

Running Windows XP Home with Wireless Router and IE7.I have Icons on my desktop to my favorite web sites.When i double click on a Icon i used to connect to my web sites more or less straight away.But for the last week when i double click my icons,nothing happens,i have to wait for up to two minutes, then it connects to the web site.On the odd occasion it will connect straight away but usually i have to sit and wait.Anyone know why.Thank You.Cumbrian

Senlis.Thank you,i have Avast,SpyBot,Malwarebyte's and Spywareblaster on my PC.I keep them updated and scan with them weekly,they never find anything.today it has connected okay except for a couple of times when it took about three minutes to connect.Cumbrian

 

Can you make a hard wire connection to rule out the wireless router? Have you tried cleaning out the cache and all history, cookies, off-line files etc? CCleaner does a good job of this. Does the time of day you are connected make any difference in speed. I use speakeasy.net to monitor my connection speed but that's in the USA and I don't know from where you are speaking, (isn't this Internet communication thing amazing? In my youth, the only way this was economically possible was with a short-wave radio set-up).

 

brandypeppy thank you,yes i have done everything you mentioned,i keep my pc clean from junk.I have made a hard wire connection and it connected okay,so i wired up to the router and it still connected okay.Thats the thing it doesn't do it all the time.Doesn't bother me i just wait,but the wife wants it to connect straight away.I will leave this one for now,but if it gets more of a problem i will be back.Cumbrian
