After I streamed a video online a couple of nights ago, my internet and computer slowed down. From experience, this happens over a longer period of time from trojans and malware and thats why I'm worried its something bigger then that. I ran all the scans and followed the procedure that you guys asked and nothing looked unusual except a bad registry.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks,
    Florin

Now we need to use ComboFix
    • Make sure that combofix.exe that you downloaded while doing the READ & RUN ME is on your Desktop but Do not run it!
      • If it is not on your Desktop, the below will not work.
    • Also make sure you have shut down all protection software (antivirus, antispyware...etc) or they may get in the way of allowing ComboFix to run properly.
    • If ComboFix tells you it needs to update to a new version, make sure you allow it to update.
    • Open Notepad and copy/paste the text in the below quote box. Ensure you scroll down to select ALL the lines:

    • Save the above as CFscript.txt and make sure you save it to the same location (should be on your Desktop) as ComboFix.exe
    • At this point, you MUST EXIT ALL BROWSERS NOW before continuing!
    • You should have both the ComboFix.exe and CFScript.txt icons on your Desktop.
    • Now use your mouse to drag CFscript.txt on top of ComboFix.exe

      http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v666/sUBs/CFScriptB-4.gif

    • Follow the prompts.
    • When it finishes, a log will be produced named c:\combofix.txt
    • I will ask for this log below

    Note:

Do not mouseclick combofix's window while it is running. That may cause it to stall.

If after running Combofix you discover none of your programs will open up, and you recieve the following error: "Illegal operation attempted on a registry key that has been marked for deletion". Then the answer is to REBOOT the machine, and all will be corrected.

    Reboot
your machine and install the most current and up to date version of Java available here at the below link:

    Java Runtime 6

Now run the C:\MGtools\GetLogs.bat file by double clicking on it. (Right click and run as admin if using Vista or Windows7) Then attach the new C:\MGlogs.zip file that will be created by running this.

Let me know of any problems you may have encountered with the above instructions and also let me know how things are running now!

There were no problems with the above instructions, in fact they were amazing. In this post I have attached the two logs you asked for. I also uninstalled Java, and installed the new version. Also regarding WinSCP, I installed it for remotely connecting to the computers at school.

My internet is much smoother and everything seems to work much better. Thanks a million dude.

Completely off topic. I just finished second year at computer engineering and now I'm curious to where did you learn to use these programs and more importantly where did you learn how to interpret the logs they create? I'm curious because I'd like to learn my self, and even help other people with the problems they have.

    Thanks,
    Florin

    Kestrel is a dudette!! :)

She came to this website a few years ago and after learning a lot by just asking questions and reading posts, she was invited to help in malware. Under the tutelage of Chaslang, she has become one of our best malware fighters. ;)

Unfortunately we are too busy to offer training to anyone who is not already a recognized expert. There are a few websites that provide training rooms. The process can take awhile to complete since there is a lot to learn and the people training you are doing it in their free time. Make sure that you are serious about wanting to spend the time to learn and have the time to perform malware removal this because it takes a strong committment. Check out the below sites:

    Good to know.

If you are not having any other malware problems, it is time to do our final steps:

    1. We recommend you keep SUPERAntiSpyware and Malwarebytes Anti-Malware for scanning/removal of malware. Unless you purchase them, they provide no real time protection. They do not use any significant amount of resources ( except a little disk space ) until you run a scan.We recommend them for doing backup scans when you suspect a malware infection.
    2. If we had you use ComboFix, uninstall ComboFix (This uninstall will only work as written if you installed ComboFix on your Desktop like we requested.)
      • Click START then RUN and enter the below into the run box and then click OK. Note the quotes are required
      • "%userprofile%\Desktop\combofix" /uninstall
        • Notes: The space between the combofix" and the /uninstall, it must be there.
        • This will uninstall ComboFix and also reset hidden files and folders settings back to Windows defaults.

    3. Go back to step 6 of the READ ME and renable your Disk Emulation software with Defogger if you had disabled it.
    4. Any other miscellaneous tools we may have had you install or download can be uninstalled and deleted.
    5. If we had you download any registry patches like fixme.reg or fixWLK.reg (or any others), you can delete these files now.
    6. If running Vista, it is time to make sure you have reenabled UAC by double clicking on the C:\MGtools\enableUAC.reg file and allowing it to be added to the registry.
    7. Go to add/remove programs and uninstall HijackThis.
    8. Goto the C:\MGtools folder and find the MGclean.bat file. Double click on this file to run this cleanup program that will remove files and folders related to MGtools and some other items from our cleaning procedures.
    9. If you are running Win 7, Vista, Windows XP or Windows ME, do the below:
      • Refer to the cleaning procedures pointed to by step 7 of the READ ME
for your Window version and see the instructions to Disable System Restore which will flush your Restore Points.
      • Then reboot and Enable System Restore to create a new clean Restore Point.

    10. After doing the above, you should work thru the below link:

So i followed all your steps as well as the final steps from the readme and I think everything is working great now. I really appreciate this. Thanks Tim and thanks Kestrel.

Also regarding the four classes you recommended, I'm going to apply to one of them and hope for the best. Do you have any idea on which one I should actually chose? There's four of them and they don't sound much different, but I know that details matter when it comes to computer security.

    You are most welcome. :major
It doesn't make much of a difference. All are good, it's just a matter of which one may have time to work with a new person.
