slow laptop....help

    i have an inspiron 1501, just upgraded the memory about a month or so ago to 2gb and it was working great. last day or so it has become really slow. so i pulled up the task manager and it says the cpu is running at 100%? the only thing i have up is internet explorer? any thoughts. thanks for any help. i just also loaded call of duty 2 on here, would that be running something in the background while i am not playing?
