Slow Laptop

Hello everyone.

I have a 3 year old laptop, it's a Compaq C700 and it's running on Vista (32bit) I think...

For the past few months it has become very slow and this is usually because of the fan being clogged up with dust, I have removed any dust and it's still being slow. I have a CPU meter gadget and it shows my computer is working over time.

I only use the internet, MSN messenger & Spotify.

I have ran CCleaner, Advanced System Care, Spybot and Malware bytes and nothing. Would it be useful to run Hijakthis?

Something is putting a big load on your resources, I would be suspect of Virus/Malware infection.You should really run through the procedures here ...

I ran most of it and my laptop has speeded up but a lot of ram is being used..I don't even know what it is, its says " Total Ram 1013MB " " USED 882 " " Free 130 " it goes up and down but not by a lot.

There are loads of tips and tweaks on how to make Vista run a lot faster on his site.
