This laptop seems to be starting fast enough but programs and browsers load very slow. Has been cleaned from infections this weekend. Have disabled unnecessary items from the startup. Is there anything else I can do or is this destined to just be a slow runner?

I see you only have 1GB of RAM in that laptop. Adding at least another 1GB of RAM is highly recommended. If you can go up to 4GB, that would be even better. Of course, how you normally use your computer should be considered in deciding on an ideal minimum amount of RAM.

Also, how large is your hard drive and how much free space is on it? If your hard drive is getting filled to the point where the free space is getting low - say, 10% or less - this can slow down the loading of programs. And, from that point, it gets worse as free space continues to drop.

Thank you for your answer. Had a feeling it was the computer. There is 66.7 GB on the hard drive and 47.1 GB is free. If it was mine I would add more ram.
