    Hi

    I just upgraded the RAM in my notebook from 1GB 333Mhz (2X512) to 2 GB 333 Mhz (2X1GB) and replaced the 40GB 5400 rpm hard disk with a 120 GB 5400 rpm. I used acronis True image 10 to clone the 40 GB to the new HD. During the cloning, all partitions were cloned proportionally to the new disk.

    I defragged after the cloning.

    Problem is that the computer boots and shuts down slower now than it did before.

    I don't think its the RAM, I swapped that first, and tested afterwards, but did not notice any difference in performance.

    Any suggestions as to what the problem might be?

    dell 700m notebook
    OS =XP pro
    old hd = travelstar/ 40GB/??buffer/5400 rpm
    new hd = western digital scorpio 120 GB/8 MB buffer/5400 rpm

    thanks
    MArk
