    Hi All.

All the sound on my PC is now running really slowly. In games, WMP, system sound effects, evertything.

I've done a repair install which didn't fix the problem.

I've re-installed the chipset and audio drivers. Still no joy.

    Does anyone have any suggestions

    Regards

I have Windows XP Home SP2 (updated and Virus/spyware checked)
    Asus K8N Motherbard
    9600 Pro graphics card
    AMD Athlon 64 3000
    512MB DDR (MEMtested ok)

have you looked in your bios for any on board audio options if there is any you will have to disable them if you have a sound card in the computer also,

some sound cards have special settings for echo and such go to manufactures site and see what they say

ive seen other postings on other forums for something like what you are experiencing try windowsbbs.com

    Thanks jimbeaner,

I'd already checked the bios and downloaded and installed the latest chipset and audio drivers from ASUS's website, but none of these worked.

Finally tracked the problem down to a USB/Firewire combo PCI card, which I removed then reinstalled. Problem vanished.

    Regards
