Hello forums, I hope you can help. I'm currently getting only around 1.5mbs download speed. I normally run at speeds around 15mbs. After doing some live chatting with my ISP support, they told me my modem is fine. He could not determine the issue. After finishing with the tech guy, I did some troubleshooting. I used a USB wireless adapter and checked my speed again. Still slow. I also booted up a laptop and checked its speed. 16mbs. So from what I gather, the issue is with my computer. I have run superantispyware, malwarebytes, as well as avast boot-time scan. None of which found any problems. I've had this problem once before. However, it affected all connections in the home. The modem was flashing like crazy and I was getting very large amounts of packets sent and received. The next morning everything was back to normal. I figured it may have been something on my ISP's end, so I forgot all about it. Now it's struck me again and seems like it's sticking around. Thanks for any help.

    EDIT:
I also have been getting Ref A errors from bing. They seem to have started the same time my speed troubles started.

Can't seem to find the edit button this time. After thinking over the past week or so about any changes I've made to the computer, it hit me. I recall updating my network drivers recently. I uninstalled my driver and installed the current driver version. Seemed to be what I needed. Hit 26mbs on my last speed test.I guess my slow speed must have been going on longer than I thought. I just must not have noticed how bad it was getting until now. Sop, problem seems to be solved for now.

Really do not have a clue what you are stating as in the one computer is slow and the other is faster. Do they both have the same CPU, harddrive, RAM, wireless interface? What make & model of router? Who is the ISP? What sites are you using to test the speed on both computers going through this ISP connection?

What programs are running on the machines when you are using (ie P2P, downloading, BitTorrent, etc.)?

Sorry my post most not have gone through. The problem seems to be fixed. I was testing at speedtest.net on both computers. My desktop is a home built which normally has much faster net speeds than the Hp laptop. Both run windows 7. I was trying to think of anything I may have recently changed and all I could think of was I updated my lan driver. I uninstalled the driver and reinstalled with the current version. My speed is back up to 26mbs. The speed jumped back up after reinstalling the driver and has been holding strong since.

So first of thing to use old version of OS. So that main reason to slow work on computer. Other reason windows installs drivers on your system it is possible to install the wrong drivers and if this happens you are soon going to run into problems
