Hi I hope I'm in the right forum! I have a Dell Inspiron 546 with Microsoft Windows XP Professional. AMD Phenom(tm) Quad-Core Processor.
2.34 GHz (Processor Speed). 4096 MB of Memory(RAM).
    Operating System Version 5.1.2600.

I had a Malware issue that has been resolved with the help of Kestral13!
Since the Malware issue is fixed, when I reboot my computer it is very slow during start up. (15 minutes before its finished start up)

I ran Reg Clean Pro and downloaded it from Major Geeks.com! It says I have 1338 errors.
    System related errors-----149
    Com and ActiveX Errors---195
    User related errors--------76
    Start up and uninstall errors--914
I didn't want to fix these errors until I got an ok from Major Geeks, I don't want to screw anything up!!

I'm not sure if this is the right way to treat a slow start up problem!
Any advice from Major Geeks would be great!

    Thanks,
    Mike

From reading, I suspect it is scamware. It also is not easy to remove.

I would use CCleaner, and see how many useless registry entries there are. Also there's the more complicated step of digging into msconfig to see what is loading at startup.

I ran CCleaner (Registry Cleaner) and it found a lot of issues. Should I "Fix selected issues". I don't want to attempt this cause I don't want to screw something up!! Let me know if I should hit the "fix selected issues" button!
If you need me too, I can attach all the issues that are showing!!

Sorry, I don't know enough computers to attempt this on own!! Any help is greatly appreciated!!!

Yes with CCleaner and not with any other registry cleaner - ever!
CCleaner will ask if you want to save a copy of the registry before it removes the entries. Again, always say yes. If anything acts differently, restore the copy of the registry.

If you have never cleaned the registry and have hundreds of entries showing, then I'd suggest you don't do all at once. Do a hundred, use the computer for a day or two then run CCleaner again and do a hundred more. Always saving a copy of the registry when it is offered. (I've never needed to restore the registry on any computer I've run CCleaner on but just the time I decide not to keep a backup, something will go wrong).

    Thank you for the help!
Do you recommend any application to control what starts up? I am using Start up CPL now! Let me know if I should try something different!!
I will keep you posted as I continue fixing the Registry with CCleaner.

If it is the program by Mike Lin, that's fine. I use that and WinPatrol by Bill P. Either one works well.
