Slow uploads

For he last few days I've noticed that manually downloading updates to SuperAntiSpyware and MalwareBytes is taking up to 5 minutes to download when before it was almost instantaneous. Also when I play games at lumosity.com, the games are slow to load. Everything else seems normal. I ran scans with MSSE, Malwarebytes and SuperAntiSpyware, but nothing suspiocious was found. Upload and download speed check indicated my upload speed was 0.98 Mbps and download was 12.61 Mbps.

First things I'd try (check your connection after each step to verify if there has been a change in symptoms):

1. Clear your temporary internet files caches. Go to Control Panel > Internet Options - in the General tab delete your Browsing history. Also, if you don't already have CCleaner grab it and run the Cleaner portion of that program.

2. Reboot both your modem/router and your computer.

3. Boot your system into Safe Mode w/Networking, see if there is a difference in symptoms.

4. Try another browser.

5. If you are using wireless networking, try hard-wiring your machine. If not, then try a different modem/router port.

 

It seems to be a little better today. I wonder if the hurricane had anything to do with slowing down the connection to some servers. I could do manual updates to MSSE at normal speed. It was just SAS and MWB that took so long to download updates.

That could very well have been the case - I've noticed that several other servers along the U.S. east coast have had some issues - completely understandable.
