Slow WiFi

What Windows version and Service Pack are you using?

• Have you tried restarting your router, turn off and back on, does the speed change (at times I need to periodically turn off/on mine)?
• If you are in the same room as the router is the speed ok?
• Have you changed or updated any software, mainly security software since this started to happen, if so what?
• If you actually connect the laptop via ethernet to the router is it still slow? may rule out your ISP actually giving you a slower speed.
• Have you added any new electrical equipement to either of the rooms and in the path of the wifi signal?

Try this, weird fix but can work as the power save settings can have some small effect on speed, as I dont know Windows version going to generic the instructions.

Open Device Manager (XP ~ Control Panel > System > Hardware > Device Manager, from Vista/Win7 just type Device Manager into the Start Search Box) then open the Networking branch (click the +) and double click your Wifi Network adapter, then choose Advanced and untick Power Save Mode, restart your PC and try again.
