My computer has been extremely slow and freezes all the time. On boot up and opening programs sometimes takes 5 minutes to open the program i.e. Firefox or Explorer. Do not run high capacity programs, mostly use to surf the internet and kids homework projects. Commonly has high CPU usage and Disk usage.

Toshiba Satellite C655D w/ AMD E-300 APU w/ Radeon HD Graphics 1.30 GHz
8.00 GB RAM, 64 bit operating system running Windows 10 operating system.

Went through the steps to remove Male-ware on the Male-ware forum and was instructed through the steps by Kestral13. PC is now usable but still is sluggish and upon opening a lot of programs, (i.e. Firefox) it can take a few minutes to open and the browser title bar says Not Responding. She suggested to start a thread in this forum to see if there anything that can be done additionally to help this sluggish PC. Any help would be greatly appreciated!!

As a first step, just to see if there are any system file problems, run sfc /scannow from an Administrator Command Prompt
    https://support.microsoft.com/en-gb/kb/929833
To see an easy to read text file loaded to your desktop of the results see here:
    https://support.microsoft.com/en-gb/kb/929833#bookmark-cbs log

After the above examine what processes you have set to start when your system boots, there may be many unneeded.
You can see a list in CCleaner Slim > Tools > Start Up and you can save the list to a text file in button bottom right.

Go through the steps in the malware removal make sure the computer is clean. then if it's still sluggish then come back to the software forum

The OP has already done that. That's why they were referred here. The OP even says that in their post.

Attached are the logs from the sfc /scanow as well as the startup list from CCleanner. Prior to finding the site I did run CCleaner's registry cleaner. Not sure if this maybe relevant or not?

OK, the sfc/scannow found no problems. Good.

In your start ups the last FOUR start ups (all Toshiba) are not needed at start up. If it was my system I would disable them.
The start up process number 4 on that list, ETDCtrl.exe, is only needed if you are using some kind of ELAN device on that system. If you are NOT then it can be disabled.

Please do NOT disable them in CCleaner.

Go to TASK MANAGER > Start Ups and disable them there.

You must RESTART your system after doing any of the above, then see how it runs.

NB: CCleaner's Registry Cleaner is very mild. It should not have any real impact on system performance.

I disabled the Toshiba startups (was not sure if they were necessary) and am not sure if I can disable the ELANCtrl.exe. It is a laptop and I assume that this is for the mouse touch pad? As far as the computer running, at times I still get a blue circle spinning and the browser title bar says (Not Responding). Sometimes it takes about 5 minutes for this to clear up and sometimes it will spoke either the CPU or Disk usage to 100% causing it to freeze. Since removing the Maleware it has certainly decreased the times that it does this from almost every command to about 3 to 4 per hour when working on it. I usually get up and walk away for about 10 minutes so that it can catch up. When it was first purchased it ran fine and then over the years it has gotten slower and slower so I upgraded the RAM from 3GB to 8GB and thought that might help but it doesn't seem like it has made the computer performance better. Not sure what to do at this point. Thank you in advance for all your help as well as Kestral13's help in removing the Maleware.

I would advise you to check what plug ins you have in your web browsers and whether they are up to date. In Firefox you will find them in Tools > Add ons > Plugins. When that page loads there is a link at the top to check their status.

You said "over the years" it's gotten slower. How much free space do you have on your hard drive? When was the last time it was defragged?

I forgot to ask - please give the full long number model number. There are many different versions of the C655D.

Over the years might be translated to - worked better on the original OS. This AMD APU is particularly weak, it might not be suited to W10 and the extra overheads it brings over 8.1 and 7.

Attached is a screen shot of the plug ins in Firefox. Adobe did need to be updated and Firefox should not contain a lot of unnecessary plug ins as Kestral13 had me uninstall and do a fresh install of Firefox. Did not do this for Chrome or Windows Edge. Should I? The complete model # is C655D-S5529.

Reviews for the Toshiba with that specific processor aren't good to say the least even with the OS shipped with it. It has some of the lowest ratings for most comparable budget laptops and 'sluggish' is a common criticism - well before Win 8 or 10 came along.

Other than doing standard maintenance such as disk clean up in its two parts, including clean system files, and if it hasn't been defragged for a while, then do that with the inbuilt defragger or if you have a 3rd party defrag tool already installed use that. But I wouldn't suggest installing one especially. If you have less than 25% space free on the system hard drive, you should consider moving data to an external drive.
The reviews for that model back when it was released were quite poor so you may not get much better.
I doubt any plugins in Chrome or IE or Edge matter much.

234 GB free of 282 GB. I did defrag and ran Microsoft disk clean. Is this the same as CCleaner? With the reviews should I revert back to an earlier version of Windows like 7 or 8?

The answer to your last sentence is an emphatic no.

Why, if performance loss is a recent issue?
