I orderd this capture device and it comes with a CD installation and the laptop i wana use this device on does not have a CD drive so would there be any other way of getting this on a computer maybe like using a disk drive?

Exactly what drives does the laptop have?

Is this program or driver (what is it exactly and how big is it?) available for download from a website?

If you had another PC, you could network and drag the files across.

The program you are talking about is Cyberlink Power Producer.

The easiest option is to email them and tell them the situation and I'm sure they will provide you with a download.

The do have a trial download available on their site, however I don't think your CD key would work on it.

BTW, if you have XP SP2, then you already have Movie Maker 2 which is just about as good.

You still need the device, but you don't necessarily need Cyberlink Power Producer (software on the CD) supplied with it.

The device itself is to convert an analogue signal to digital so your computer can process it.

You then use the software like Movie Maker, Sony Vegas or Powerlink to capture and edit the video.

However, I don't know if it will require any drivers or not. I doubt it.

Create a restore point and try it.

EDIT: Just to clarify, I don't know what the video you are working with is. That device is to convert analogue to digital.

If the video is already digital, like straight from your digital camcorder, then you don't need.

It's only required for analogue video.
