Smallest Hard Drive

Dang small. Is this what they put in ipods?

 

Yeah, but thumbdrives are up to 16GB nowadays, so I although nifty in a way, I see o need fo a micr-10GB H.D.D.

 

they have thumbdrives that are 16 gigs? wow.... who knows maybe these mini hard drives will get even better after long....

 

Yea I tend to agree with you Phantom, spinning motor, sealing case, and moving "read/write head" are all problems that chips do not have, but it does show that "Nano-Motors" are starting to see actual usage, and besides it's just kinda coooool, though not to practical for Data storage.

 

LoL! Yeah, I thought I was spiffy with an 8GB thumb-drive, until I saw a new 16GB one at my main parts supplier (yes, I'm a "Geek-Tech"). They're currently at $160.00 ($AUD), locally, so I'll wait a bit for that. (8GB @ about $90.00, ($AUD), last time I checked. I should have got one when I was in H.K. last weekend, but I got sick and wasn’t up to anything, except getting home and into bed. Ah, well.

Re: B.C.G.:- Yep. I can't wait until flash RAM is in the 100's of GB, then, along with LCD screens, we can have a truly solid-state P.C. (A tad ways off, yet, but not too far off ). A little micro HDD would still be a great novelty item, though.

 

Ipod drives are slightly bigger as they need to access files instantaneously and therefore a larger drive can perform this.

Still, that thing is tiny but as previously mentioned - USB drives are getting smaller and smaller now!

 

Very cool, though I'm still waiting for the super high storage solid-state drives.

And while we're at it, where's my Solid State RAM?
