I am investigating the practicality of using a smart card to access our home computers. I have found software and card readers, but the cards themselves seem to be elusive except for corporate users. Even if I could purchase a small number of cards, I would still have to have a way of programing them. These cards would not be used on a network, but as a means of controlling access to stand alone computers.

This may not be practical. What do you guys think?
