SmartFix by DefendGate vs same by Smartalec Technol?

I'm confused. Yesterday I bought a program called SmartFix (to speed up my computer) by a company called Smartalec. The president is Alexander Wong.

Today, just out of curiosity, I thought I'd see if majorgeeks.com (my fav site!) carried it. Yep...but by another company, defendgate! Oddly the president of defendgate is also Alexander Wong.

Is one of these a spoof, an illicit copy, spyware, or what? Or are these two unrelated programs with the unlikely coincident of the same name for their presidents? Or has Alexander Wong gone out on his own?

Here's the oddes part, if they both are legit: majorgeeks has a 2009 version. The supposedly most-up-to-date version I bought from Smartalec's site is 2006 (listed as "SmartFix Security Center 2006 Professional" in my receipt.

What's up? I'm afraid to install the one I've bought. Naturally, I trust majorgeeks far more. Thanks!

 

By the way, the return email address on my receipt, tho from an Alexander Wong, is not the same email address as on on this forum for Smartfix author Alexander wong.

While I realize that one of their sites says DefendGate & SmartAlec are becoming one, the difference in years/version (2006 that i got vs 2009 on majorgeeks) and in email addresses has me concerned. Thanks for any help.
