    Hi,

have just set up SME 7.2 and need to assign users and passwords, but cant get around the 7 charcter minimum, I am so green to linux like only two days worth its not funny!

Can anyone please advise / help, I need two user login name passwords for these groups, these will be for approximately 18 users, these users definitely dont want to change their current passwords. Dont think its an option...

I have one user / group which requires a five character psw and the other with six characters. Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.

Also fyi... posted simialr thread on a linux forum when i was at work (will have the same user name and date) but dont have its url to add..sorry.. the url is in my favorites at work...

Thanks in advance for any assistance.

I think you are stuck with it as a security feature-new server means new or at least altered un/pw/

Try asking the users to keep there same data just add a 4 digit combo(letters and #) to the existing ones in use.
