    can any one recommend free/open source software i can use to insert smileys in instant messengers web page forums etc. anything other than smiley central would be greatly appreciated. thank you

    Guys,Ive tended to stay away from these free smiley places..dont they have hidden malware in most of them??Thats why they`re free??I just dont trust it..

    You don't actually have to install any software. The smileys you see here are linked from that page! Also, if you were to copy it to your hard drive, it is still only a gif. Images aren't such a common tool of attack since MS has been updating the GDI. Of course, you can always scan the file before doing anything with it!
