Smitrem

Hi, Have been infected by smitfraud (SPYBOT spots it but cant clean it) and a annoying little notice in the systray that keeps downloading SPYAXE.

Have run all of the procedures notified by the forum, starting from the "Read and Run this first......" section.

My problem is that whilst in safe mode I run smitrem through the three screens to the final one that advises to close all windows including the one containing smitrem............. when I 'press any key to continue...' the program just exits to the desktop and thats it. Of course smitfraud is still there.

One other odd thing maybe worth mentioning is that in safe mode SPYBOT says it has cleaned smitfraud but when I go back to normal mode it finds it again and cant clean it.

Any help gratefully recieved.

To expedite the resolution of your issues please attach the requested logs per the Read & Run Me First thread..re: Bit Defender & Panda online scans, HJT log, etc.

Thanks for coming back so soon. In the interim I discovered the advanced tools in MS Antispyware - removed a few suspicious looking things. Went back into safe mode and ran all the tools again and I'm clean as a whistle. Smitrem still didnt look like it ran as expected but something worked.

David, please attach the Bit Defender, Panda ActiveScan, and HijackThis logs. So, we can confirm that your system is clean.
