    XP Home - Pentium 4 - 2.4 GHz - 512 MB Ram - 60GB HD for Operating System & Programs - 40GB for Data Drive - 80 GB for Software Storage......

Here's my problem. It began Thursday the 11th.
All of a sudden I could no longer d/l email into outlook.
Parameters are all correct (pop3 & smtp setups) I called verizon and they ran several diagnostics and all is fine. Ordered a new modem from Verizon (DSL), replaced it - no changes. I was having to d/l email on the Verizon site - VERY tedious (refresh refresh refresh - ICK)
I could send OUT in Outlook just not receive in.
So I would read email at Verizon site and cut and paste to Outlook to send out items to my mailing lists.
Decided to reload Outlook (2002) but first wanted to check on my laptop to see if it would d/l there.
    VOILA !!! It did....
BUT.... the laptop would not let me SEND
So I could RECEIVE email in my laptop Outlook - and I can SEND email in my desktop Outlook.
    VERY strange.
I'm in an A+ class and one of the kids said it sounded like I had static on my line. So I took a phone outside and checked it at the outside jack as well as the lines in the house and there is no static. That was also verified by Verizon.
    I'm at a complete loss.
I have a 802.7-11b 2.4 Ghz wireless router that the whole shebang runs from.
Had a friend come and disconnect the router and hardwire the computer and cut the laptop loose, and I still couldn't d/l into Outlook.
    Anyone have any ideas?

Does your outlook have all updates?
    Office update on web.
If not sure open outlook on top click help/ then office on the web, or something like that? is link for update!

Have you tryed to reset your router (dont know what kind router you have, but dlink I believe, when reset will return to default settings) reset to default settings?

One other thought, System Restore to date priror to your troubles?

    Hi

How bout anti-virus? I've run into this many times and had it be the 'e-mail scanning' in Nortons has gotten gummed up. Simply turn off e-mail scanning and see if it works any better. If so simply turn it back on and test again.

    Hope this helps,

Windows Update says "no internet connection"

I tried to do a Windows Update and it says that I "need to be connected to the internet". When I click to connect, it says "no connection".
Well obviously (by these posts) I am connected to the internet. That's how I'm getting my email from the Verizon website. I can access via Netscape AND IE.

    Reset Router

The router was reset last week to no avail. I'm afraid I'm going to have to go the route of System Restore.
