So close to uninstalling Windows 7 and using Vista...chkdsk bugs

This is not a thread asking for tech support so...

I have little doubt there are people out there having the same problem and concerned they have hard drive issues, so without further ado, my rant of the day.

Not sure if any of you fine folks have experienced it yet, but I have, and its making me incredibly angry.

Certain (certainly more than just antivir) av apps trigger a bug that causes your hard drive to be marked for chkdsk on next reboot (the dirty bit gets flipped). It then finds...no problems!

Then all is fine. Then it will happen agan, and again, and again...and it tends to feed right into the bug where chkdsk hangs just before starting when the countdown hits 1...which forces me to reboot manually.

All of this hurts my productivity.

Microsoft really needs to get off their butt and fix this...

Vista does not have these problems. Im tempted to just go back to it....but then Im so accustomed to the superbar now...

I will go back to Vista before I disable autochk.exe. Thats simply an unacceptable workaround.

    /rant off

    OMG! That's what's causing that???

It was driving me nuts when I first got my laptop. I have to say though, I've only had it happen once in the last few weeks though. Maybe something's been changed on either MS's end or Avira's???

My only problem now is between Photoshop and my Vid card causing bsod. I still haven't done anything about that and actually, that hasn't even been happening as much.

    No problems here.;)

Could it be something to do with not using AHCI I wonder?

With and without my OEM's AHCI driver, I have the problem, if I go commando and don't use antivirus, it stops.

The 'theory' is that the ntfs driver in Windows 7 is different and the av apps are doing something to flip the dirty bit.

Antivir has been trying to work around it in their software, so it may be ok on their end. But I am using Panda Cloud....

Well, went back to MSE, albeit grudgingly. We shall see...
