So HOT

My computer freezes and crashes a lot and a friend said it might be overheating.

Why is core 0 so hot? What can I do?

Hi

It maybe overheating but don't always take applications like thats figures too literally, do check in the BIOS or also install Everest Free and check with its sensor info.

But if the CPU is getting hot, make sure that the CPU fan and HeatSink is free from dust as well as any other fans and grills, also check that the cables are not messy, if they are tidy them up as this can reduce temps by a few degrees as it reduces hot zones.

It is also likely if one core is too hot that the heatsink and the thermal paste is not sitting right, clean and reapply thermal paste to the CPU and Heatsink and make sure the heatsink is firmly fastened down, if its loose its will build up heat.

Also, your -12v rail is reading at -16v, and your 3.3v rail is reading at under 3.0v; the -5v line is at 8.48v, and the 2nd line for 5v is at 5.64v. I'm not sure if this last one is out of spec, but the other readings are enough to have me looking at a new power supply possibly. On the other hand, SpeedFan is not the most accurate program for things like this. I've had much better results using HWmonitor or the paid version of Everest Ultimate, it has a 30 day trial (I think). These 2 programs should give you accurate readings, and you can compare them to SpeedFan's to see how accurate it was... then post the readings here and we'll try to advise.

I'll download EVEREST now. Are there any... non-physical things I can do to preserve CPU temperature? I seem dust-free and tidy as far as cables go.
