    I have

    all the 3D models i need (created in 3dsmax).
    Animations for models.
    Audio.

    The only problem is i have no clue how to create a game engine.
    I want to make the graphics at least up to H2 vistas graphics.

    What would i have to learn in order to make my own game engine?
    C#
    C++
    XNA

    or something else?

    All of the above unfortunately. Plus it's several Million if not Billion lines of coding to generate an engine. That's why it's a relatively common practice to liscence an engine, such as the Unreal, or Half-Life engine.

    :( Guess it's off to school for me. Although i wasn't expecting this to be an easy challenge seeing as though it takes a whole studio full of professionals to make one game.

    You can also collaborate with like-minded enthusiasts. You seem to be strong in graphics but weak in code. There are probably some code writers out there that would kill to have your skills. Use Google to try to find these people, because building an entire game yourself, will actually kill you, or your enthusiasm to do it. However, through collaboration with others, you'll maximize stengths and minimize weaknesses. If you are worried that someone may steal your idea, then have a lawyer draw up a standard business contract that provides for legal remedies, to help protect your interests. Such contracts are run of the mill, 'boiler-plate' and are not very expensive. I wish you the best of luck.

    I disagree that it takes a studio full of professionals. Many excellent games have been done by one or two people, or a massive number of dedicated amateurs. Counter-Strike was a Half-Life mod that was basically created by weight of numbers. Instead of having just a handful of ultra talents, they had a lot of lesser talent.

    Speaking of a half-life mod, why you don't try that first...
    You would already have the engine and there are a lot of examples out there...

    Yes, that's true, but I think that those 15$ would save a you alot of time ;)
