So my boss' laptop took a crap...

While it did that it was downloading about 2 weeks of emails that
he hadn't read since he was on a vacation. Since it took a crap
while he was pulling the emails from the mail server the box was
emptied on the server. In his email application (Outlook) there
are no new emails in the inbox, the last one was from 6/28. I
looked high and low and in between looking for a newer email.
I got nothing...

Is there anyway to look at maybe temp files are anywhere
else that these may be lying?

I'm not looking for backup files. I am looking for files that were downloaded and then lost while the machine took a dump.

 

If it crashed at JUST the right time, the emails might have left the server, but not gone into Outlook.

Some antispam programs store mail outside of Outlook, so it might be worth opening them up, just for kicks.

 

If you have veritas for exchange, you can always recover his email, from a backup. Also, try to undelete (yes I know the boss didn't delete the email) via exchange.

Just for kicks, do a search for *.pst on the laptop.
