    :cryHello!

I recently went through the whole system overhaul in the Clean Up and Protect from Malware forum.

But, now my printer and computer won't communicate. Totally frustrating ... and try as I might, I can't figure how how to fix it.

Any help would be most appreciated.

    I loaded:
    > Super AntiSpyware
    > Online Armour
    > Avast
    > MalwareBytes
    > CCleaner
    > Spyware Blaster
    > Smart Defrag

(I also downloaded Firefox ... but haven't "unpacked" it yet ... still debating)

So ... I'm sure it is likely something really obvious to someone more computer literate than I am.

The printer is a crappy old Lexmark X2250. It is NOT on a network. We have one computer and one printer. Super-basic.

I have uninstalled the Lexmark drivers ... deleted all the files ... rebooted ... reloaded the correct drivers from the Lexmark website ... unplugged and replugged the cables ... all in varying orders ...
I did the uninstall & reinstall multiple times and followed their troubleshooting for dealing with the language monitor error message (finally got rid of that) ...

But it still won't print! I had no problems at all until I loaded the MG recommended programs. But now, even if I disable the new programs, it still won't print. I even tried uninstalling AVAST! ... but still nothing.

I send something to print ... I can see it process the pages ... the document shows up in the print queue (says printing) ... but nothing happens ... and eventually the document disappers from the print queue ... but nothing ever comes out of the printer (and yes, it is on and connected).

Again ... I did not have any of these problems before doing the virus removal and software updates (and the malware forum sent me here).

    Thanks a bunch! Julia

mom2many. I remember your initial post, a couple of months ago on this issue on MG.
I googled away to glory to find something. Plenty of hits. But no solution.

You've done every thing I could think of :( Can you pls try using the printer on another PC. Use the same cable to connect.

Just googling Avast and Lexmark is bizarre. But since you uninstalled Avast?? Try another PC. Cheers..

not sure if this will work for you but I went to my printer page and right clicked on properties, clicked the port tab and deleted the extra ports that were under that tab. Then I came back to the printer page and deleted the printers on that screen. I then re installed the printer.
I did this when I had a network problem and having multiple computers printing to it each one.
I would print a document the printer display would come up the page went to the printer and it said it printed but nothing would come out. This sounds similar to what you are going through minus the network thing.
    I've included photo's below...
