software for external burner

Hello I am new to doing this,I bought a usb2.0 slim portable optical drive external cd burner. I went to install it and my computer, doesn't reconize it. I emailed the place that I bought it from, they said that I need a software program. I am not very smart on a computer and I don't know know what type of software and where to buy it. My computer is a Dell dimension e310 and I am runnung windows xp on it,:cry any help would be greatly appreciated thanks Bill

 

Can you email them back and ask what software and where you can find/download it.

Else, post back with the make, model of this external usb CD burner. Perhaps it can be found for you.

 

Hello they said that I should try and purchase one at www.nero.com. To burn CD's. The only thing that it say's on the box is as follow's. USB2.0 Slim Portable Optical Drive. Their is also a number it is 91-47042-000. I went on Google and entered the number and it came back, to a web site and I found the External Burner. This is the information that is for this burner. It is a USB CDRW Burner Slim Drive 24x. Specifications: USB External Optical Drive CDRW24x Slim. Specification's (MAX) 24XCD-ROM,24XCD-R 16X CD-RW. Buffer Size 256K Support disk format. Like I said I am not to smart on computer's. I would like to Have An External Cd Burner. I Need to burn a CD to back up my files. Plus other program's from time to time. If you dont think that this CD Burner is worth the trouble to try to get the program to install in my computer, Is their a Cd burner that you would recommend that I could buy, I really thank you for taking the time to help me; Bill
