Software For New Pc?

It has been a long time since I have logged on to Major Geeks. The last time here there was a thread that suggested preferred software everyone should load on new PC's for protection. Sorry I did not find it. What I have done so far was to set it up like I did with my last PC.

I have MBAM Premium, CCleaner Slim, SpywareBlaster and have installed Webroot. I was in the habit of running CCleaner and MBAM every time I shutdown and plan to continue doing this with my new PC.

Is this still enough to keep me protected? I know sometimes software preferences change so should I be downloading anything other than the products I have mentioned?

Also, the new PC came with a trial copy of McAfee which I think is not needed and can be deleted. Please tell me if I am wrong. I know there is software to totally delete Norton but I think I can delete McAfee just using the Uninstall Program in the Control Panel... is this also correct?

Thanks for your time and help.

Yes I would like to know if I have everything setup ok. I have this new laptop setup with the exact software I have had on my previous laptops but I know you guys sometimes change your preferred protection software or add additional software. Since I made my original request, I have deleted McAfee.

    Greetings.

Thank you again for your patience. I am not sure my answer will have been worth the wait but here are my personal thoughts.

I am not aware of specific software recommended by MajorGeeks, although my working knowledge about possible historical recommendations is lacking, to say the least.

Malwarebytes Premium is designed to not conflict with other real-time antivirus programs. Their site lists some exceptions but WebRoot is not listed as being troublesome. The reason I mention this is because I have found running my own Malwarebytes Premium alongside my antivirus program has only been beneficial. You might further investigate running Malwarebytes in real-time rather than running it on demand.

Personally I would encourage being very careful about running Registry cleaner programs, or those portions of programs that automate the process. It is not that danger is always right around the corner but the potential ramifications if something goes haywire can be crippling up to and including an unbootable computer.

If, by chance, you would like us to take a look at the state of your computer I have provided instructions below. Additionally, antivirus programs can be quite intrusive and lodge entries deep within a system. Traditional methods of uninstalling these types of programs is inadequate to fully clean the system of remnants. McAfee leaves quite a bit behind. I have included instructions below to deal with that irrespective of whether or not you want an overall evaluation.
