    AFAIK, Ares is just another p2p type of program and the suggested programs above should work fine. There is a free version of Limewire (which I'm not a fan of, but some people love it) and there's uTorrent but the newest release (1.8.x) has been 'banned' by many sites due to some protocol bugs. Older versions of uTorrent can be downloaded here over in the green column on the right. BitComet is another popular torrent-ing program.
