Software or Disk Problem

I have a 3 1/2 floppy that was last used in July 06. When I insert the disk and go to the open A drive, all of the Word files are shown. When I click to open a file, all I get is noise...dut..dut..dut..dut. Then Word shows as not responding and I end task, but the drive still keeps making noise and I have to open the drive and take the disk out to get it to stop. No problem with other floppies....I think it is a disk problem, but I don't know what to do to access the information.

Sounds like that floppy is dying ....put it in and choose properties ...then hit tools ..error checking....see if it will recover or at least let you access ...you may have to hit explore.

got 910 K used and 546 Free Shows list of files. Ran both check disk options. Disk check complete on both. Tried to open again and no luck

When you right click the a drive...try choosing explore ...if the files come up ...see if they will open ...or try dragging them one by one to the desktop.

You could try a file recovery program ...but it sounds like it is now "toast".
