Software removal

i am on a new hp with vista and i downloaded palm software to use from the disc. when i got it on, i found out it was nto compatible with the vista system and have been trying to get it off. when i go to remove program, i get an error message that says:

Error Number: 0x80040702
Description: Failed to load dll: HSAPI

Set up will now terminate.

i have tried to redownload from the disc and from the internet, thinking that maybe it would work, but no luck. do you have any suggestions. it is my personnal computer, so i am the administrator. it is beyond what i know how to do and can not wait for some great advice. cheers, mike
