I want to be able to test software and other things such as websites on my PC, with out effecting/infecting, my primary partition. I have been told either a VM or sandbox would be best I don't know a whole lot about either I do use a VM at work to run legacy programs on Windows XP. I want to create an environment that will be used to test everything, and not corrupt my whole system.

Any info would be greatly appreciated.
