How is it that I burn a CD with MovieMaker clip in wmv format but when I put it in TWO computers, nothing registers as being on the CD?

Some more info would be helpful; like what Windows is on all 3 PC's, how old the PC's are, etc.... some CD drives (usually older ones, but not always) will not read CD's that were burned with XP and the CD will appear to be blank. This can also happen if using CDRW media versus CDR blanks.... I've also had problems with multi-session CD's that were burned with XP. When I tried to read the CD in another PC, it only read the first burn session, and everything after that didn't show up and was inaccessible..... maybe look into firmware updates for the CD drives, or possibly some software updates (maybe Windows Updates???).... anyway, more info would be helpful... thanx!

Okay, the two Dell laptops are less than 6 months old. The desktops and teh Gateway Laptop are a little over a year old. They all have XP, Media Player 10 but the older ones originally had 9s. The CDs I am using are HP CD-R 700 MB. Everytime I burn one, it says I have to format them. The brand we had before (Verbatim) never asked for formatting.

Funny, we are attached to a network. So, when I got the CDs to be read on one laptop, I loaded the clips into the server. Well, now, I go into the network and pull down the videos into a desktop and the videos play. Some computers do not show the actual picture but a technicolor version that you can still see a little bit of what I copied. But as long as the videos play, I guess I can figure out the rest.

The reason I need the CDs to be read rather than just going through the network is because the CDs have to be submitted to co-counsel. Thanks.

I've been thinking about your various clip problems.

Because you need the clips to work on any Windows computer perhaps Windows Movie Maker (although slow and a bit awkward may be your simplest solution).

Several people, here at MajorGeeks, recommend ImageBurn http://majorgeeks.com/ImgBurn_d4870.html to burn CD's. I've never used it but burning your WMV as data should make it readable on any computer. I personally use Nero (Expensive, but this is work related) for burning CD/DVD. Choosing Data disc copies your file bit by bit perfectly.

I'll suggest asking opposing counsel, after a case is over, what software they use to produce quality videos.

Sorry, no help on masking images in a video but googling "masking" may help.
