Sofware problems with a printer...

    :mad: If I had known that DELL was gonna do me this way I would never have ordered my new system from them. I got the XPS 400 and the computer is okay..I expect to have some quirks.. but setting up the printer is my headache and THEY want me to buy SOFTWARE Warranty BEFORE they will give me any support... so I am here people. I have not cried in along time but I sure feel like it now. Okay the problem appears to be the print spooler. Removing the software and rebooting the system twice has not solved it. A new install does not take care of it. When I go to print a job of more then ONE page , it will ignore the number I put in and only print ONE page. Does not matter where I change the number it will not print more then one page at a time. then I was merrily sending one page after another to the printer because I really needed these things printed and after about the 5th or 6th page it would stop printing ANY. It would just stop. IT would start to load the page then say there was an error with it. Same page each time that did okay before but now there is an error. So I have to reboot the computer to unfreeze the print queue and get it to print that last page it hung on. But after 4 or 5 pages it would do it again. They had me pick the machine up and turn it upside and shake it, then do the COMMAND line thing in RUN and then the SERVICE thing in RUN... and then tried to send me to a MSCONFIG page that wouldn't even show up on the computer!...it was blank..then this guy says "yes you have a software conflict, so I will transfer you to Warranty support and you can buy software warranty and then I can help you... that is the biggest bunch of BULL EXCREMENT I have ever heard...me pay for THEIR stupid software that is supposed to work. The printer is a DELL AIO 924 Photo printer. (All in one)...got any ideas you very sweet smart people to save my sanity?:p

    Give us any details or error messages you are getting. With both the computer and printer.

    Try going to printer properties advanced & print immediatley - no spool.

    this is the verbatim conversation... there were no error messages... by either printer or computer. It is already set to print immediately..no spool..I just checked...

    did it... same problem...only one will print when I tell it to print more then one... the settings say spool and will not let me change it to anyother setting like dump straight to printer...I wanted to try that but get an error message that the change could not be made... guess i will just fiddle around somemore and see what comes of it... Thank you so much for the link..It took all night on this slow connection to download it all but I got it!

    Thought the driver might fix it. If you are getting any kind of error message post it, might help us find something. :)

    I have never really gotten any error messages and that is what puzzles me...the system tells me the installation was successful. Only when I tried to tell it to dump straight to the printer and NOT spool it would not let me..said it was an invalid command and could not be done. that is the extent of all the error messages I have gotten. I think it is their stupid software. And I am not going to pay them to tell me that. thanks for trying..
