    That is really interesting. But the smoke seems to travel as normal.

    I would suspect that the soldering was done in a vented / (fanned) area, as warm air ( or smoke ) does not "rise" in space, as there is no up and down so to speak. The fire aboard MIR was notable for the fact that the American Astronaut decided to get "below the smoke" by crawling on the floor, only to realize the smoke was not rising.
