Ok this is a long story.... Bought a computer in Feb 2007, Dell Inspiron 1501. I deployed to iraq later that year, and i am still currently in iraq. While on this deployment i lost all my install disks. As of right now my laptop needs a new battery. Today my compter crashed, i was able to restory to the factory settings, and then save the partition that dell gave me to reload it. But it tells me to back everying up and press one everytime i boot. I have run a check disk, and it fixes the problem but still gives me the error. While running the check disk it says there are 44 reparse records processes. It has never given me that before, it is not a virus, the computer is never on the internet, it tells me i need a new hard drive, so here are my questions to the forum.
I saved the partition and all 4G of it to my terra hd, if i bought a new HD could i load Vista and all the drivers from the TB to the new harddrive?
When i boot the computer it works properly, but i have received the blue screen before i reformated it. My worry is buying a new HD and not being able to copy vista over because i do not have the hard disks that i lost in iraq. Is it worth the money for a HD and a battery, the computer is still in good shape, it takes a beating but this is the first problem that i have with it.
Any suggestions? Thoughts? any help from anyone would be great!
