Some interference known to be from an uncoditioned power line

Some other reading told me that the interference on my old Trinitron of diagonal moving bands top right to bottom left are due to power conditioning problems.

I thought initially it was coming from a particular device like a stand alone dvd player, but turning all devices including computer off still show the diagonal banding interfence. On my nearby 19 in CRT monitor, a moire pattern also is visible.

Tripp Lite and SurgeX have some "powerfully" priced products. What does Major Geeks recommend or provide as alternative advice? I am an apartment resident and my needs are minimal. What would be an entry level product on- brand or off- brand? It seems that Tripplite and SurgeX provide the only reliable specs for one of these devices.

But you may know of devices newer than some of the threads on MG indicate.

Just had a thought. I have to look and see if the Trinitron has a degauzing button.
    Please continue with response.

Take it to a friend's place, or local mom & pop shop and plug it in there to see what happens. Flyback transformers go bad, along with capacitors over time. If you get the banding when stuff is off, most likely it is just getting interference from a input.

What happens if nothing is plugged in, and the unit is just plugged into any outlet with no surge protectors in between the CRT & outlet?

Oh brother, moving the thing is just about out of the question. I'm saving that for the two men and truck guys next move I make. I could try to get it on a different circuit here since I have the fuse box in the apartment: switch the one off where it's plugged (whci is close to the air conditioner-- air conditioner never goes on to speak of-- then fine another line.

But the set has to return to where it is now eventually. I can navigate it on it's wheeled cart a bit.

A 19" CRT is not that large or heavy. I can carry it by myself with no problem.
