Some of you may not realize... but...

Hello guys.
Please understand that there ARE young people on this board. I being one of them. Well, lately some of you have been saying some crude things lately in posts. I know, I know to you all it may not seem crude and are just having some fun, but some of us find it offensive. I come to Majorgeeks to have fun, and chat. And when I see things like that it makes me upset. And some images that are posted, aren't very nice either. I'm not trying to be rude, or trying to ruin your fun. Can you guys tone it down a bit please?

 

True enough Cano. If AbbySue didn't have her hands full in real life, I suspect she'd have rapped a few knuckles for a few of the threads.

I try not to post anything too far out, but occasionally find something funny that probably shouldn't be said here. If I've posted something that offended you, I apologize.

Except for the killing/eating animals thing. I refuse to become a vegetarian.

If somebody offends you here there is always the option of ignoring them so you do not have to read what they have to say.

YOu will find that not everything will be to your liking
that is just how life goes.

click on their name and add them to your igonore list

 

Yeah I know not everything in life will be to my liking. I don't need a life lecture.

I don't want to have to ignore people on the board.

I had asked nicely. People should at least be respectful... and tone it down a little bit. Thats not a lot to ask.

 

Don't even think about stopping any of the things you post, it's good to remind every one now and then to take it easy.

I do not wish to engage in any form of argument with you but there are already good people moderating the board

they, the moderators do not have a problem with what it is typed here on the forums.

believe me when I tell you this. If they did it would not last but 20- 30 seconds and it would be gone.

I have seen and read somethings that have annoyed me in the past but it is not my place to tell the people that posted to chill out.

It is a public forum and the cleanest one I have even seen. but it is not perfect. But it comes close

If I am getting out of hand here. I am sure one of the moderators will let me know.

I would also like to remind you that there are adults on this forum too.. we adults like to have adult humor every now and then..

It's hard to cater to everyone so choose what you want to read..ignore the rest..

 

People will post what they will. The moderators are here to straighten it out and make sure not too many people get rattled. Nearly everytime a religous/political debate gets fired-up, the mods have their cursors hovering over that "delete thread" button...but things tend to remain civil.

Fair enough. But respect needs to be mutual. As Kodo said there are also adults on this board. I don't always appreciate every single post, either, but that's not what it's about.

You're referring to your Oscar Mayer Wiener thread, aren't you? I was inclined to dismiss your complaint as naive and idealistic over-reaction to random comments until I saw that. I have a daughter your age and I wouldn't have been happy if she were in your place. Say something next time, it looks like everyone just got carried away and lost track. I think we will be more careful from now on.

 

Yeah, I thought as well JustPlayin and noted that young Cano would be even more scarred in that thread. Was going to say more but that would be arguing...

 

The trouble is, posting something like the Oscar Meyer Weiner song in an online forum is kinda like waving a red flag in front of a bull. It may have been done in innocence, but even at 14 I wouldn't have had a hard time seeing where it was going to go, and quickly. Pegg's post (the first one in the thread, IIRC) should've made that very clear.

 

agreed, there are some youngins on the board, some younger than me (15). i try not to post anything too crude, but as you guys said, i , like you, enjoy a good laugh at something crude every so often.

As an adult, I must add that I have a great sense of humor and I stay away from crude and dirty jokes and language. I've had some of the best laughs with my friends and some incredible memories without "going there".

Don't want the youngun's to think adults have "adult humor" = crude humor only. (I know, Kodo, that's not simply what you meant)

I spoke as a voice of experience. So now some people have learned a few things. And isn't that what life is all about.

 

I love reading all jokes and seeing all the photochoped images in all the posts. To me none of it is offending. All it is, is multiple people sharing what interests them and what is funny to them.

This being a public forum, some people might not like what is written, but the moderators do a great job keeping this place clean, so dont take anything to hard. If it bothers you just ignore it and go on, and if you think it steped over the line, report it like others have said.

This is a great friendly place, and i love it here!!!

Actually...no. But I do consider it a hopeful sign for the future that at 14 she's still innocent. I wish I could've said the same for me at that age.

Jut let the Moderators do the Moderating. i.m.o., no need for the 'netiquette' lectures. There is a process to follow if your grievence is serious. Common sense does prevail almost all of the time, amongst the regulars, anyway.

That actually scares me.. The world isn't heading that way and it'll be a hard lesson learned for those as naive as she. I really don't want to offend her as that is not my intention. But she'll either see that people are much more diverse now or she'll see it later and have an even bigger shock. The world isn't a nice place. Life isn't easy and good fortune doesn't fall from the sky and land in your lap. Reality is harsh and it would be a good thing for anyone as young to realize this sooner rather than later. I have seen this time and time again and the result is the same.

All true...I just would've preferred to learn that little life lesson at an age older than seven, but that's just me. And I'm coming from a VASTLY different place than seeing some slightly risque comments on a message board. So...I'll shut up now.

 

Not trying to flame or anything but come on, 90% of the people here are mature adults who like to unwind and have a laugh and forget about the stress of work etc, do you really think everyone should tone it down just for you?
shouldnt you be hanging around some teen chat rooms or something , real life involves SEX-DRUGS and ROCK n ROLL
