some service wont start on startup

    hi there i have this wierd problem, which is just really an inconvenience but worries me nonetheless.

    this just happened randomly one day when i turned on my computer i noticed i couldn't change my theme (it was now stuck on 98) and my audio wasnt working so i did a little googling and found that my services were the problem so i just ran "services.msc" switched "themes" and "windows audio" back on. but now every time i open my comp i have to do the same thing, even though the services are set to start on start up.

    It's start up type is set to automatic or manual? (I assume you are saying it is indeed set to automatic but that you STILL have to manually start the service each time, correct?) if it's at manual change to auto

    exactly, thats what i dont get, i've tried setting it manual, then restarting, then setting it auto and restarting again and still nothing.

    something the windows audio service is dependant on could need looking at.

    Do you feel confident about going into your registry? There is a little fix here Kelly's Korner

    scroll down to #371

    I would wait for others to chime in with this and see what they say.

    Ok,do you check your audio driver to see if it's ok?
    Try to reinstall.
    Do you check your comp from viruses?
    Just to be certain that you have done this.Cos changing themes can be often caused by a little nasty thing in your comp.

    And right click C:>tools and check the partition for errors.

    alright so im scanning my pc for viruses right now, last time i scanned was three days ago but its been happening for longer than that. I added the theme restoration registry ill be back with some results later.

    well now my problem is worse i cant restart the service. i go to the themes service to start it up it says that it is started but theres is no change; windows audio hasn't changed in anyway
