i was installing windows xp on my computer and it was doing fine untill i turned off my computer and turned it back on the next morning it had Unmountable Boot drive error so i did what every one said and went in to recovery and typed in chkdsk /r and that worked untill a couple days latter when i turned it on it says something about the battery and now every thing in the computer turns on but no video comes on. please help me.

Your battery needs to be replaced. That's most certainly what's causing all this since the battery lets bios keep the boot sector files and bios extended bios settings, if the battery's running low it will loose some or all of these settings.

Open the chassis and take a look on the motherboard you'll see this flat chrome battery, usually about 2cm in width (round as well unless you have a *really* old machine). Turn the computer completely off and take out that battery, then go buy one just like it and insert in the same location.

You might need to run the chkdsk /r again after that but then you should be fine.

i would take the battery into a watch or jewelers shop(or wherever you wind up buying it) to make sure that you buy the exact same model number

no need, as long as the voltage and size are the same it'll work with whatever

try swapping batteries between two boards you'll see :)
