Something better than ZA for my W98?

I have Win98 original and am using Zone Alarm Free v3.2.7. ZA is clear up to v.5+ now, but apparently my old OS can't handle the newer versions. My questions: Do I have the best, most up-to-date free protection that my OS can handle? If not, what's newer and better?

You got that right Star! :) Another lesson on how bad uninstall programs can be!

I am using a dial up, does Outpost work as well with it? I am using ZA now, and sure I mentioned that I am not having any problems with it, but could always use more resources with Win98.

I am at their website but have not found the instructions for uninstalling it. Do you have any idea where it is on there?

Hi frybo30. I have been using ZAPro v4.5.530.000 on my P2/400 laptop for over 1 year now. Laptop is on Win98SE and is maxed out at 288mb Ram (all BIOS will accept).
My ZAPro has expired over 4 months ago but still runs OK (but without recent updates).
A couple of things I notice from your post. Are you running W98SE or "original W98" as you say. Maybe update to W98SE. Also some more Ram may not go astray.
Thanks Xflat for the uninstall link and the mention of Output.

memo to self: I should uninstall ZAP (the recommended way) and install Outpost.
Oh God, it never ends, the joys of computing. Baz

    Update to W98SE?

Any opinions on my updating to W98SE? Should I go higher? Is there a point of diminishing returns for a person such as I who's no computer guru or bigtime game-player?
