Something Decapitated Task Manager

Recently my Task Manager was changed - decapitated. The tabs are gone, as is the bar that lets me enlarge, minimize or unload. So all I can see are the active programs.

I can't even click it off. I have to go to the task bar at the bottom and choose "close this window" to turn it off. It's obvious someone doesn't want me to access the other tabs. Something there isn't kosher. I'd bet it's a malevolent process.

I'd like to be able to find that "something". I want to know what they're trying to hide.

Can I reinstall Task Manager? I can't find it on my installation disk. I use W7.
Since it is a Windows app, there is no option to uninstall it. If I find the program on the install disk, I don't think it will install the whole thing.

Is this something I can reinstall? Don't have any restore points that will do the trick.

If not, is my only option to format C and reinstall W7? I'd love to hear there's another option.

    Thanks,
    Holly B.

Just double click in the white space near the edge of the task manager.

Wow! It worked! So I guess I must have doubleclicked there to take the tabs away.
    Wow. Just wow.
Happy holidays. I'd bake you cookies if I could.
    Thanks!!!!!!!!!!!!
