Somebody once told me that most innovations in computers were made because people are lazy and wanted to find an easier way. How true is this?

Well, I can't say how true it is, but it sure does coincide with human nature!!:-D Let's face, as humans, we're always trying to find an easier AND better way to do things! I think they call that progress;) So, maybe, there may just be some truth to that.

Would need links to proof from who told you this to confirm or deny this as they need to have evidence of this.

BUT for me some truth is in this as while not lazy as many of the techs who designed the internet and computer CPUs etc where working massively hard daily to expand the knowledge and tech.

Tim Berners Lee (who while at CERN developed the WWW as we know it with TCPIP did have help from others notably Vint Cerf the godfather of the internet) and Robert Noyce and Gordon Moore of Intel who pushed CPUs and speed to new hights, others like Bill Gates et all, Steve Jobs of Apple et all... the list goes on and these folk where and are not lazy!

Just need to review the resume of the above to see that tech inovation was not easy :) while the design may not of been easy the end result is to make LIFE easier for the rest of us.

Coming up with new ideas is far from lazy, the shortest line between two dots.

    Why use a bigger line?

EDIT what's funny is laughing at the size of the old lines.

Wait just a minute here. Everyone knows that Al Gore created the internet. He said so himself. You need to check your sources.;)

I like others here can't say for sure that there is truth in it or not but, commonsense will tell you that the real purpose would have been to make things better as to making them easier to use so that it would be done quicker to where you can accomplish more in a shorter time bracket, if that makes sense:confused. That's JMPO and what I learn in computer tech school years ago from my instructors.
