    keyboard input problems

having trouble inputting text. response is very slow, even with on-screen keyboard, so not a hardware issue? using the mouse on other applications eg. browsing, works fine - slowdown only shows up when i input text.

    have tried the following:

scan with ad-aware, pest patrol, & norton.
    updated intellitype software.
    tried different keyboard.
    rebooted numerous times.

have noticed that both my 2.8ghz proessors frequently jump to 50% performance. is there a way to tell which process or app is causing this?

quick update - cpu usage leaps whenver i input text either with a keyboard or the on-screen kbd.

another update - im now logged on using someone else's profile on my machine. the keyboard works fine, so im guessing it's something that loads up when i log into my account that's causing the problem.

i think i will re-post all this to the software forum...

have noticed that both my 2.8ghz proessors frequently jump to around 50% performance whenever i try to type, then go back to normal (0-1%) after a few seconds, after the text i typed has appeared.

i can log on to another user account on this machine and type normally, so im guessing there is something which loads on my account that is causing this problem.

does anyone know what might do this?

Bring up the task manager & have a look at what processes are running. Might be helpful to list them here in your post for others to see. You can also use msconfig to see what programs are running at start-up & disable any you don't need, or that look suspect. Almost sounds like you have a keylogger tracking & reporting everything you type!
