for the past few days ive been having a problem. the computer shuts itself off then restarts itself like normal. at first i thought did was a virus ran malware scans, etc. found nothing. now i'm getting another problem recently my computer doesn't turn on at all i hear the fan run and everything but there's nothing on the screen all i hear is two beeps then silence. the times i actually got the computer to turn on i get a .dll is corrupt then the computer shuts off. i decided to run a system restore currently this is my third time doing a system restore. the same problem presets i scanned my hardware and it found nothing wrong with any of them. sometimes even before i was able to do the system restore i would get a BSOD then forced to shut off my computer and try redoing the system restore. today i come from football practice to find the screen in a 800x600 resolution when i know i didn't have it that way the night before, this has been happening quite a bit often too. also for some reason i cant shift and capitalize some words or symbols like the @ letter on my key board.

edit i forgot to mention the not sure what it's called exactly completly slipped my mind but it's where you connect all cables of the computer into it. then that device goes to the wall is quite old and i was told it was strongly recommened to buy a new one i was wondering may that cause the problems

Could you post your system specifications for us? You could use something Speccy to post them here.

As for the abrupt shutdown/restart, my guesses for now are:

    Failing power supply
    Failing memory sticks (RAM)
    Overheating of CPU

    Hi,

Do post your model number and maybe the Speccy results to see what graphics you have. The two beeps usually indicates that BIOS found a hardware change (normal is one beep). So it is possible you are having a problem with the hard drive which would explain the .dll problem. Or it could be a graphics card problem which would explain why you get no video after the two beeps (normal would b two beeps and a message on screen indicating that there has been a hardware change). Make a note of the exact .dll you are getting the error on and post that too.

Go ahead and run a chkdsk on the HD. My Computer and then right-click the C: drive and select Properties on the Tools tab select Error Checking. Tick both boxes and schedule for next boot up. Reboot and let it run to check for errors.

sorry but how can i get the model number of my graphics card? also i won't be able to run the scan until later on tommrow i got a football game tommrow so i won't be home until late and i'm guessing the scan would find the .dll error i've been getting? as of yet i haven't gotten it.
