I have downloaded RecordNow and managed to erase the data from my CD-RW disc with no problems at all. I then added data once more to it, transferred the data to another PC and attempted to once again erase the data using RecordNow.

I encoutered a problem though... Now when I click 'erase disc' on the main RecordNow menu, my CD Drive ejects the disc & I get a message saying "Please insert a rewritable disc into the HL-DT-ST CD-R/W (E) drive" which I did.

When I click 'OK' it then puts the CD back into the drive and I get another message saying "The disc you have inserted is not blank. Would you like to erase it now?" so I click YES.

I then get a box displaying 'erasing progress' but after about 5 seconds of doing nothing, the disc gets ejected from the drive & I get the same message saying "Please insert a rewritable disc into the HL-DT-ST CD-R/W (E) drive".

    3 Simple Tasks & I Can't Find A Way To Do Them!

3 Simple tasks and I can't find a way to do them!

It can't be that hard to just do the following:

    1) Put 700mb worth of data onto a CD-RW disc
    2) transfer that data to another PC
    3) erase the data from the CD-RW disc
    4) Do steps 1-3 again

how many times you used the disc? im not too sure about it as i dont use RW much but i think they cant be erased too many times due to the nature of the design

I had similar problems with Record Now. Do you have Nero? If you don't have Nero can you right click on the Cd drive and click format(quick format will erase the disk in a minute or two).

I've been thinking about this and when I used various Roxio software (Sonic; CDCreator; CDRecordNow) on a CD_RW disk, after formatting for packet writing which I believe is necessary for being able to reuse the discs, you only could record about 530mb of data. If you are writing 700mb to the disk straight out of the box without formatting then maybe this is the cause of your trouble. The disk is writable without packet formatting but is difficult to erase. Try taking a fresh disk; format for packet writing; copy files to near disk capacity, about 530mb, and after transfer use RecordNow to erase the disk and see if you end up with a writable 530mb disk. This is how I did it before Nero.

Nero can write data disks on CD_RW of about 650mb and erase and reuse them again.

    Simple solution to your problem:

You want to transfer 8gb of data.
Buy a cheap pack of 25 CD_R disks (roughly, 30 cents each).
Burn 12 disks with your data at ~700mb each.
Toss the the 12 disks and have 13 disks in reserve.
You'll always find a way to use them eventually. :)
