Meh, I personally think it's been underway for at least 2 years now. You really think they would let the game slide while resting on PS3? Or is it more likely that while the PS3 team has been working on PS3 that there has been a seperate team to begin reasearch into the Next system?

Although as a PS3 fanboy I did find this amusing...

Thats funny, I had that card and burnt it out years ago, they started pretty low end there huh :-D

What else is new in console development...? :p PCs have always been more powerful than the latest and greatest consoles. That's why so many PC gamers feel that everyone going multi-platform makes their games worse, or at least uglier.

What is new in any development these days? One has to keep up or lose.;)

Let me ponder for a bit hmm? Beta1 is due out next month and I betcha W8 will be(or whatever it's called) RTM'd this fall, just in time for the Christmas season which they missed with Vista. I believe the same will happen with PS4, you heard it first right here!:p:-D

This is true, but realistically speaking it's only true for those who could afford a PC that powerful, I mean come on, when PS3 came out it would have cost thousands to match it in a PC. I know I couldn't afford it.

PC vs Consoles have always been a bit of a seesaw.
Console comes out and no one can afford a pc to match, after a couple of years PC components come down drastically in price and can be matched a little easier.

Having said that, how much do you think it would cost now to build a PC that matches gaming capabilities of the PS3?
Xbox could be matched now quite easily, with the exception of my CPU I stand way above it now lol

Probably still pretty high end I would think, without going back into all the specs etc I'm guessing admittedly :-D

That's actually my point. If you can afford to upgrade CPU and video card once a year, and the rest every 2-3 years, you easily can stay ahead of the console curve easily. Especially if you know your way around over-clocking and optimization and the console makers do you the favor of taking their time before the next gen release.

Every Year!?... If I buy new PC parts I expect them to last at least 5 years before needing to be upgraded...... :-D

    I've got a PS1, I've got a PS2, but I didn't buy a PS3. And no I don't have an Xbox.

    :confused
5 yrs??? My first PC I bought at the university bookstore. It was custom built by Howard. At the time, nice system with a radeon 8800 AGP video. 1.8 intel. It took me almost 9 yrs. to upgrade after that. (only cause I'm cheap) But seeing the difference from what I had to what I went to, I'd upgrade every 6 months if I wealthy. I'd rather be gaming on a PC. I do however own a 360, and a PS3,PS2, Nintendo 64, SNES, NES, PSP.... :confused that's it. I can't really see Sony working on anything right now other than it's security issues.

Not sure if anyone is gonna keep up with any E3 coverage,(starts today) all week long on G4. Everyone needs to check it out. The largest video gaming expo in the world. All the major gaming producers will be there announcing the latest and greatest and upcoming titles and hardware. Here is an interesting blog. http://m.kotaku.com/5808813/kotakus-e3-predictions

I prefer console games over PC games.(mainly because I have CP in my right side and i find console games easier to play--without extra work.(getting contollers to work with PC and such)

Speaking of the never ending debate between Pc vs. console. My favorite used book/dvd/console games/console/music store just stopped carrying PC games. Their selection of used console games is amazing, truly amazing. I couldn't believe they stopped the pc games. :cry :cry Now, the only store around my house that even carries PC games is best buy. There used to be a comp USA, and all the gaming stores carried used Pc games. freaking crap
