Hi, i have posted about this before but with no avail, somebody somewhere must know something.... i cant be the only one with this problem?!?!
im running win xp proff, I have a jetway MB, Athlon processor, 2 hdd (pri mas & slave) and then my dvd rw is my sec master whith a dvd rom as the slave.
I have a NVIDIA GF2 graphics card a lan and a modem card.
Quite simply, my sony dvd rw 530a does not like dvd's!?!? if i put a retail one in, it tells me I cant play a copy protected dvd with my tv out enabled (i'm pretty sure i dont have one of them), if i put in a blank dvd, wondows just asks if i would like to write to the cd. I fi try to use dvd buring software like Nero etc, I just get told that there is no compatible device available?!
Thing is, windows divice manager says that the drive is what it is, and the drivers are all uptodate etc.... BUT IT DOES NOT LIKE DVD'S!! aaaaaahhhhhhhhhh!!!!!!!!

PLEASE PLEASE, someone must know something, or know somewhere I can get help with this...... obviously not SONY - we all know they have got as much built in support as kate moss's bra!!

    any info is greatly appreciated

    thank you

I've heard of this problem.. question is did you install this device after you already had windows installed? Or did you install windows after installing the device? This will hurt but the way to go is backup your data, and re-install windows with the DVD-RW connected this will fix the probelem. I guarentee.

What software do you have installed to play DVDs? Even with a DVD drive, you must install a dvd player with the proper codec installed or movies won't play.

Newer Macrovision encoded movies will refuse to play if an active TV output is detected. Your GF2 vid card should have a TV output. Make sure your video card driver is set for single output only, or however it's defined for your card. If the secondary (TV) output is set active, Macrovision movies may not play. My current ATI 9700 Pro card, with the default "switch among displays" setting won't let movies play. When I switch it to "Single Display", movies run fine.
